Ilex Urban Regeneration Company Limited (Ilex) was set up in 2003 by the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) and the Department for Social Development (DSD) to plan, develop and sustain the economic, physical and social regeneration of the Derry City Council area.
Originally put out to public tender, the contract to replace their old website was won in a joint bid by FMM and Urban3D, which proposed to create a world-class website with stunning 3D visuals of Ebrington and it's facilities.
The Ilex website is a promotional platform with several key audience groups, each of whom have been taken into consideration. The site primarily promotes Ebrington as a destination, both for investors and developers, as well as local people and tourists. Thus the 26 acre site can be explored in geographical and visual detail, with current development opportunities promoted in realtime. This is where the visualisations by Urban3D bring the content to life.
Aligned to this, the public facing aspects of the site, especially concerning events at Ebrington, give vital information about the many great things to happen at the site, both in the future, and in the past.
The website also gives information on the history of Ebrington, Ilex' corporate agendas and highligts their past successes to date, which include the Peace Bridge and 2013 City of Culture.
The Ilex website launched in Sept 2014. It is fully mobile responsive and content managed, allowing the various Ilex departments full access to control al aspects of the day-to-day operation of the site, taking charge of all the outward and inbound e-communication.
